The Alberta government has ordered a forensic audit of Chestermere, led by Deloitte, to investigate financial issues during the tenure of the recently dismissed mayor, Jeff Colvin. This is the second probe in two years, following concerns about financial management, including irregularities in financial reporting, controls, and governance. The audit will examine financial policies, expenses, hiring, and procurement between October 2021 and December 2023. Findings will be released before an upcoming byelection, aiming to ensure transparency and informed voting. This follows the late submission of financial statements and disputes with the former auditor, KPMG.
