Chandler accused the city of election interference during a presentation on a legal bid to recover $650,000 in funds allegedly misspent during Colvin’s tenure. The disruption led to a confrontation, with Chandler eventually escorted out by RCMP.
The legal action against Colvin and former councillors, based on a Deloitte financial probe, aims to recover unauthorized expenditures, including legal fees and personal expenses. The city is also facing a $4,000 fine for an illegal burn ordered by Colvin. The upcoming byelection on June 24 will fill the mayoral and council vacancies, with Colvin and the dismissed councillors running again.
